Can Love really turn to Hatred? Can you love someone and when
the person does something wrong you just hate the person?
Answers
Love is mentioned at different times, for
different reasons in the bible. At different times in the new testament alone,
we are reminded to love, forgive and so on. On like any other virtue, Love is
selfless, so it needs a lot of effort from us (e.g praying, being alert etc)
Looking at the Characteristics of Love,
we see that it's something that needs constant attention; reminder; even
renewal and ofcourse effort.
Having established that, my own
Contribution is that Yes love can turn to hatred if you:
●Stop Focusing on God and his commandments
daily
●If you stop giving it attention and
efforts daily. Whatever you give attention to, you give life to...So how do we
give attention to love? By Forgiving almost every second; By overlooking
small faults, By being Patience
intentionally, By being kind even when all the circumstances around are saying
you should be mean, by not insisting on having your own right always ,by daily
dying to self.
You see the moment you stop
"consciously" working on this wether intentionally or it has become
your lifestyle, whatever the case is....you open the door for the enemy to
bring in the opposite of all I just said....some include Impatience, Meanness,
Rudeness, Selfishness, Anger, Jealousy etc....
You see there's no vacuum in Life; You're
either glorifying God or magnifying the devil...If you for once get tired of
intentionally living out Forgiveness, Patience, Self-Control, Meekness,
Kindness and all the Characteristics of love whether in a Marriage relationship
or friendship, it will transform and it will be like a movie.
Love is a commandment that has to be done
with the right motives and reasons. It is a decision that has to be made with
full understanding of the work, pain and most importantly virtues that come
with it.
While I wish that Love can just become very
easy to give out while we receive Christ, It is truthful to say, just like you
keep nurturing your love and desire for Christ, You need to keep nurturing your
desire and love for people until Love indeed becomes your Lifestyle and at a
whole lot more easier to live.
