In the Old Testament animals were
slaughtered to make sacrifice to God as burnt offering, in the New Testament
animals were no longer used as burnt offering/ sacrifice. Jesus Christ shed His
blood for our sins. My question is why is God interested in shedding of blood?
Answer
1 John 5:8 the Spirit, the water, and the
blood—and all three agree.
When Man fell, Man was Dead to God. This is a Principle
we must understand to get the whole picture. All through Scripture
(particularly the Old Testament), God spoke of Life in 3 Symbols of Life.
They were Water, Blood, and Spirit.
This revelation was shown to the Apostle
John in 1 John 5:8. So the period after the fall of man all through to the
birth of Jesus, Man was unable to witness to the Life i.e. Eternal Life or
Kingdom Life. He could only witness to Eternal Life through those 3 elements.
So
we saw this witness occur when God used a man named Noah to purge the world
with Water. All living things were immersed and submerged in Water. This was
God witnessing to purification of Life through Water.
We also see a major witness to Life
through the Blood when God killed the first born sons of the Egyptians and
spared the Israelites because they covered their house with d Blood [of lambs].
Jesus also came as the "Spirit" became Life in d womb of the jewess,
Mary. And so we see God was trying to earn completion and not just take
people's lives or see blood as some sort of "divine vampire".
God is
the Ultimate Chancellor of the Institution of Eternal Life. He knows exactly
what creates the order of Life and that was what He was trying to fulfill in
Jesus Christ, through his Life (after Baptism in Water), Death (Blood on the
Cross), and Resurrection (Newness of Spirit). This is the holistic picture.
